Question [Q] Problems loading library books onto rooted Nook Color

Sorry if this has been discussed, but search seems to have been down for a couple of days now.

Recently I renewed my library card and so wanted to check out reading borrowed books on my rooted Nook Color.

My main computer is a desktop running Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx, which has Adobe Digital Editions successfully installed under WINE 1.3x. I can check books out from my library and then it downloads the .acsm file to my computer. Then, when I click on the .acsm file the book opens in ADE just fine. However, that's where I'm stuck.

When I plug my Nook Color into my computer via the USB cable, ADE never sees the Nook Color for me to authorize it. I'm also running Calibre, and when plugging the Nook Color in it sees the device just fine and I'm able to transfer non-DRM'd books to it. When trying to transfer the files through Calibre, Calibre immediately tells me there's an error and there's no software to read the file on that device (paraphrasing error msg).

Has anyone using Linux been able to successfully borrow books from their library and upload them to their rooted Nook Color?

Thanks!

I use Overdrive Media Console on both my Nook and my Nexus1. I have been able to check out DRM'ed epubs and audiobooks (MP3, but not WMA) from my library, download them into device via wifi (or 3G too for the Nexus).

Unfortunately there isn't a desktop Linux version of the OMC software (there is Windows and Mac), but you don't really need it. It even supports the automatic deletion when the lending period is up

Thanks for the reply. I did install OMC. However, wwhen I follow the download link on the browser page it takes me to another browser page with HTML-looking text on a white background. Am I doing something wrong, or is the software acting up?

The same thing happened to me yesterday. After several attempts in Dolphin, Opera, and native nook color browser, I was able to download my book using the latest version of firefox.

The first time I tried with OMC on Dolphin HD, I got that same HTML screen. I either moved the storage location to the SD card or just rebooted (not sure which or both), but that fixed it in Dolphin. YMMV
