Default Samsung Galaxy SL (GT I9003)

All,

I'm currently a symbian user and about to make my move to android.
I'm confused between the HTC Desire(incl HD) and Galaxy SL (Galaxy S is no longer available).
If anyone is using the galaxy SL kindly let me know your feedback on the same.

I would like to know the battery performance (i know its usage dependent but still a vague idea will do)
GPU performance (can easily play the 3d games on it ?)
GPS issue (has it been fixed in this version)
Lagging that was prevalent in the S version, is it still there or has been taken care of.

Any other info that you can proivide would be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

P.S : Can't wait to move to android.
Click Thanks if I helped you in any way. It feels good

Fellow countryman, I own Galaxy S SL. It's for Rs. 20k. If you want to use Android for long time and budget is not a constraint then go for Desire HD or wait for Incredible S to be available in India. Specification was Galaxy S SL use different CPU and GPU than the I9000. So difference in performance is bound to be there. HTC Desire S is also a good phone and I hope it is priced at the most Rs. 25k. Would be a step down version of Desire HD but certainly better than the original Desire. Choice and money are yours.

Best luck

Thanks for the reply.
So would you suggest shelling out an extra 6-7K for the desire/HD ?
I would obviously like to get the best for the minimal.

Can you tell me about the battery, gps and any issues that you've faced with you SL ?

I'm not a hardcore gamer but would like to play a few games like the NFS kinds and all that. Can you play those with ease on your SL ?

Thanks

I played Asphalt 5 HD free on it and it worked like a charm. No issues with that so far. Gaming would be smoother as SGX530 is not AGES old but good enough

Battery life is good but it drains out fast when used entirely on Wi-Fi. GPS issues still persist as I can't get GPS locked properly. =(

Other than that, there are lags but I suppose after those lagfix kernels are used, the lags would go away.

Thanks,

It's shocking that they still haven't fixed the GPS issue. Have you tried taking this up with the customer centre ?

I have the pricing constraint hence I guess i will go with the SL.
Hope it works out for me.

S2 will surely be priced more than original Galaxy S.
I believe it will easily be more than 700$

The loudspeaker in Galaxy S LCD appears to be of same quality as that in Galaxy S. Of course you can check out the VOODOO roms for sound tweaking et al. I rooted my phone yesterday and now looking for custom kernels.
