Hdmi to monitor, smartphone carpc

Hello,

I have 7"indash screen in my car wich I connect with my laptop to enjoy music, video's, navigation etc.
Once I heard that the latest phones are equipped with HD content, dual core processors and hdmi connectors I thought why not use à phone as a carpc.
I now have a 7"screen that connects with a vga cable but newer ones have hdmi connectors.

Now because my cars screen doesn't play audio (that is handeled by the Cars radio) I would like to know if it's possible to use the LG Optimus 2x Hdmi out only for video so that it's still possible to use the 3.5 earphones jack for audio out.

Could anyone please check this.

Maybe the Motorola Atrix would be better for what I would like to do since it has a special multimedia dock with seperate hdmi and earphone output.

Also can some one tell me if there is a different between the Hdmi mirroring of the lg and The hdmi output of the Atrix?

If i connect 3,5mm headset then i get sound from headset and no sound from hdmi.
It will work just fine for you
optimus 2x has full hdmi mirroring and atrix i don't know.

The atrix does not have HDMI mirroring out of the box, maybe the XDA brains will found out how to unlock it on the atrix later.

So if you connect your optimus to an HDTV by hdmi you will get video and audio (as it should be) but if you than connect your headphones to the phone it automaticly switches: hdmi sound off (video still working) headphones sound on.
That's correct?

Yes, that‘s correct. I own optimus 2x since last friday look at studentmobiel.nl.
