it wasn't directed at you.
And being 15 is not an excuse for anything, so please don't tire that one out as well.

I tried about half a dozen ROMs for my G1. From stock CM6 to old ones based on 1.5/1.6 that promised speed.

The best I've used so far (like others have mentioned) is the "Froyo by Laszlo" (5.2) ROM.

It's not perfect. After install, you have to do a few things.

to fix text color:
Settings -> Extras -> User Interface -> Tweaks Extras -> Reset UI

to fix fonts and other missing stuff:
run "addons" from terminal to download and install missing files.
(this one may fail if Laszlo's site goes down)

And even when the "addons" command installed "Email.apk", it didn't show up for me.
This seemed to fix it:
(from a terminal)
# mount -o rw,remount -t rootfs /system
# cd /system/app
# chown root:root Email.apk
# chmod 644 Email.apk
# reboot

Sorry if this had all been covered. It's a shame to read that it won't be updated any more.

yeah it does suck it wont be updated anymore.. besides the minor tweaking you have to do after flashing its still just an all aroung great rom. everytime i try something new it never lasts more than a day or 2 before im back to lazlo's rom.. i just made a bart backup and it gives you EVERYTHING back lol even ur apps in the ext so its easy for me to go back to what i had.. no more early tweaks lol

ps. i also flash the ezbifftest kernel so a lil memory boost

froyo by laszlo is the best froyo rom out there by a long shot.a close second would be the mt3g port by ezterry.ofcourse we r glad to have a developer like terry to do the groundwork for us to keep enjoying our g1s,the polish is done by all the other valued devs.
