Default [Q] Updating to 2.2

I currently have a rooted Captivate running 2.1 stock rom. If I update to 2.2 via kies will I run into any issues? Will I still be rooted? Good idea?

ps - i'm pretty noob

Thanks

with 2.2 you will now have 3e recovery with signiature verifacation.
use this fix to fix that.

if you have root explorer or similar with mount RW, you dont need adb just mount and drop file!

I believe you can skip the "Unroot" step. I did not unroot my 2.1 before running the update and it worked fine.

There is an alternative method to get CWM on 2.2. All you need to do is go to this thread and download SuperCurio's "UCKB1+Voodoo" .tar file. Use Odin to flash this onto your phone. Once you do that you will have a new KB1 Kernel that has Voodoo Lag fix AND CWM Recovery built in.

This method is so much simpler than the ADB method Trusselo pointed you to AND you get Voodoo Lag fix at the same time!

Or you could just flash Cognition 4.1.1 which has voodoo in it.

Have fun!

In that case, better to go straight to Cog from 2.1 and skip the Kies update to 2.2 entirely.
