Anyone know how to set the blink rate of the LED programatically

Hi
Does anyone know how to programatically set the led blink rate on the desire?
I can get it to change colors, but can't find a way to set it to flash.

I know apps like "LED me know" do it, so it's possible, but I just can't work out how.

Or in a unix shell?

try led frequency and customize it....in led me know

Thanks, I know that LED me know can do it.
I'm wanting to know how to recreate a similar effect for one of my apps.
