Question Rooting and removing apps

Hey!

I'm new at this, and I just got my LGO2X today. The question I have is this:
Can I, without problems, remove following apps:

- Facebook, Twitter and MySpace for LG?
- Preinstalled apps?
- Car Home?
- RemoteCall?
- SIM Toolkit?
Phone: HTC One M8 16GB (unrooted)
Operating system: Android 4.4.2 and Sense 6
Previous phones: HTC Touch Diamond 2 -> HTC Desire -> Samsung Galaxy S -> HTC Desire HD -> LG Optimus 2X -> Samsung Galaxy S III -> HTC One M7
Tablet: Sony Xperia Tablet Z
Operating system: Sony UI, Android 4.3
Tablet #2: Google Nexus 7 (2013)
Operating system: Stock Android 4.4.2

Linux for all PDAs!

Wireless penetration testing on handhelds (not gonna do it, but you can try it if you want :
-Nokia n810 - probably capable via p54-spi driver

-HTC Kaiser - via newer kernels and wl12xx

HTC Kaiser (KAIS130)
Kaiser-Buntu (Ubuntu on the Kaiser) - own porting [EXPERIMENTAL]

Is it possible to freeze or disable so that the icon for alarm/clock and call log disappears but can be used?
I think it's stupid to have those icons that can be launch via the app "Clock" and "Phone" instead.

If you use LauncherPro then you can go to Preferences > General Settings > Hidden Apps
By that you still have the app's installed but they won't take up space in the drawer.
