There is nothing that I ever heard of something like this.

I guess if you want the WebOS-experience there is no way around WebOS-Hardware... Which isn't good for now. But soon you will have more to choose from (and I expect also an Evo-like device later this year).

Not to be too bold in my assumptions but once HP get WebOS 3.0 out the door with the Pre3, i would imagine it would just be a case a custom compiled kernel to get WebOS booting on most hardware? of course theres is the issue of button mapping but 3.0 is supposedly scalable to any resolution and that should make the job of porting the OS easy enough, (if not totally illegal, but hey i think we would all look the other way)

Just my thoughts, what do you guys think?

Wont work we were porting webOS to the cdma htc hero because the specs were very much the same but you can not go above the 1.xx webOS version without it being illegal rwhitby from webOS internals shut us down most likly this will be impossible

You're saying it won't work because you where shut down by the dastardly mr Whitby but if say a script could be written to take a firmware image and modify it (Replace the kernel and editing various CSS/XML files for size and so on) like Rod and co did to get WebOS 2.0 on Pre- that would be alright wouldn't it?

Actually it was the moderators of this forum applying the forum rules regarding redistribution of copyright material which shut down that thread.

Yes. If you do things the right way, you can achieve the same result without violating copyright laws. Most people, however, tend to take the illegal easy way.

Cunning and dastardly, indeed.

Its best to just wait till the launch of webOS 3.0 before making any attempt to port. I wouldn't really want to have to re-size every element just to get it to fit on various devices before working on the (no doubt numerous) bugs that will remain.

WebOS internals have to be the most impartial professional homebrew force on the planet.
