I also notice that dot sometimes upon status bar pulldown. It also appears in my sbh-80 headset icon when that is on the left hand side.
Unfortunately I have no clue what it is but I've also never noticed any difference in hardware or software.

I have paired it xperia z2 + smartwatch sw2 + sbh80 /sbh20 /mbh10 /qed uplay1 but I never noticed this icon dependences with any of them

We could say it's a bug... The dot is actually a notification from Google Now, which by chance, is in the same spot as the smartwatch icon...

I don't have google now active ...so I can't get even fake noticication

Weird... At least, every single time I have the smartwatch connected to my phone, when I see that icon, it is Google Now...

Even when the watch isn't connected, I occasionally see that icon... 😒

...hmmm weird ...I've never seen this dot before smartwatch ...I'll try to disable watch when this dot appear to see what gonna happen
