I love Sony XPERIA smartphones for very long time. Every day i am writing articles about it, i like design, construction, UI and much of thing in these phones. There is only one thing, which i hate in many expensive XPERIA phones. SIM card slot with small plastic crap is terrible for me. If you change SIM card once a year, it is not problem... But if you change it often, it is not comfortable and stylish. You can lost this plastic crap, you can damage it, you can put it to phone reversely. I dont know why in 2014 we dont have in expensive XPERIA phones better and stylis h solution. How you like it? Is sim card slot comfortable for you in Sony XPERIA Z1 Compact?

I guess you seeing this from the "Reviewer's Perspective", since you review a lot of phones, swapping SIM cards is a must for you. But when it comes to us(my perspective), I don't change SIM quite often. In fact using the current card for quite a few years now (5+) so I don't find it clumsy or affecting the 'style'.

But I do agree on the plastic part, it is indeed bothering. The tray should have been part of the flap, but I guess they had to do it for the cause of WATAPOOFIN and IP58

I agree, it is a non-issue for me as well.

I agree with Jozinek, I have had quite a few phones in the past and Z1C is the first phone where I needed to google how to insert a SIM card! For me the way this is solved is pathetic, trying to slide the tray out may result in a broken fingernail! If you have one that is, otherwise you can forget removing the SIM So in this situation you are basically on par with an iPhone - you need an additional tool to access the SIM card

And what is the need for that plastic tag under the tray??? At least Sony could have devised a mechanism when you pull it out to slide the SIM tray out also, that would make it easier for everebody, but sadly...NO. I really want to meet the guy who devised this one...

I agree that I don't like having to have a pin or a toothpick to get the sim card out and in. But since it's not something I do a lot I don't feel it's a big problem. The phone has much more bigger problems.

No problems for me, neither with the SIM slot or anything else that would be noteworthy. Actually, I couldn't care less about the SIM slot.

That plastic tag has imei n other information that usually we see under battery in other phone.. Since this phn has non-removable back cover, they designed it like that.. I dont see any other better place than this.. Do you have any better idea to put that sticker in other place?

The plastic holder is a little fiddly but other than that it's fine. I appreciate having the SIM so easily accessible (in my old phones I had to take the battery out to change the SIM card).

I dont mind how they made this sim card tray, it works fine for me. But i can see how it could be a problem if you change sim card a lot.
