[MOD] Kitkat/Lollipop AOSP Roms Low Quality/Resolution MMS Fix

Works on 8.6.1 but I noticed if TRDS isn't activated, the Messenging app is still somewhat blacked out. Is there a way to get the fix without the blacked-out look?

Also, is there a guide on how to do this ourselves?

EDIT: Actually, I went into Settings and changed User Agent to HTC6525LVW with the stock Messenging app in Slim and sent pictures to myself and it works. Does your flashable zip just change this automatically or does it change anything deeper than that?

I didn't know that slim had the option to change the UA profile, you can just change it there then and no need for this flashable zip. This changes that automatically for roms that don't have that option and highers the image quality size.

The sinless ROM and gpe ROM that are 4.4.4 have the MMS sizes fixed. Android L on the other hand don't have the fixes. I need to decompile the apk in order to fix it, which I've had no luck. If anyone know of tools capable of decompiling lollipop apps please let me know and I'll try to get Google Messenger fixed.

Which part of the file do you download. It just shows me the system folder and the meta folder.

I Updated the CM11 & CM12 MMS to the latest from their Nightlies since I use these the most, I also added the Month & Day that its from. Enjoy.

Sorry I barely seen your question, so I decompile any MMS.apk from whichever rom and go into res/xml/mms_config.xml & edit these lines from their originals to:

<int name="maxMessageSize">1228800</int>
<string name="uaProfUrl">http://uaprof.vtext.com/htc/htc6525lvw/htc6525lvw.xml</string>
<string name="userAgent">htc6525lvw</string>

If you have any you want me to do you can just pull the MMS from the Rom you like and i'll gladly edit it for you and add to zip so you can flash.


I also added AICP MMS 01-10-15 to the OP & Updated CM12 MMS to 01-10-15. I also added a LP tag to identify the MMS Zip as Lollipop compatible.

OP Updated with CM12 0130 MMS & Team UB 0129 MMS. I also included the BlissPop Messaging App which comes with a Custom User Agent Setting. I didn't need to change anything because with that Custom User Agent Setting you can fix MMS by choosing it going to Custom & typing in this: HTC6525LVW. Close the Messaging App & it'll send regular quality MMS. Just flash the BlissPop zip to replace your Messaging app with it, I didn't try on any Rom but should work on all.
