I take no credit, all credit to r3pwn and Google. r3pwn has managed to modify the database of supported devices and it works great with our m8! Just download his enabler application, enable it (uses zero battery onced "enabled"), then just use the newest Chromecast app from the Play Store. Just set up my chromecast today and the mod works fine. Aspect ratio is a little screwed up (top and bottom of phone is cut off on my TV) but still a very neat tool
