A2DP or AADP is the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile for BlueTooth enabled devices.

A2DP is used for transmitting stereo sound from one device to another using BlueTooth. Some of A2DP's uses include:

  • Stereo Headphones (as opposed to one eared headsets)
  • Home Stereo (usually through a separate adapter)
  • Automotive Stereo (either stand-alone, or through an add-on adapter)

A2DP is also effectively used with AVRCP the Audio/Video Remote Control Profile, which enables remote control of your audio player.
