A lot of this was copied from the PDAViet Upgrade Tips and Tricks wiki page.

A lot of people are trying out new ROMs and running into the exact same problems again and again. Here are some common problems and info SPECIFIC to the Transformer ROMs so you don't have to flood the forums with stupid requests. ;)

If you have general flashing problems, USE THE SEARCH because 99% chance you are NOT the first one to experience it or report it.

Flashing Proceedure

In general, use the Upgrade Guide that's on the forums for general info on what to do if this is your first time.

  1. plug the phone in USB, have it activesync. Backup whatever files you need. The usual CID unlock issues apply.
  2. No matter what rom you currently have installed, it's a good idea to flash with "PV_Temp" rom because it's a generic wm5 AKU2.2 rom. This clears out all previous garbage and creates a blank slate for WM6 to be installed.
    • You can use the tried and true NVID rom but that will also flash your radio rom to 2.47.27
  3. After flashing the PV_Temp rom, do not go past the screen alignment. Leave it alone. Leave the phone plugged in
  4. start flashing the WM6 rom by running the upgrade_rom.bat file
  5. after it's done, you should have the latest Transformer ROM up and running! Congrats! You can now unplug the phone from USB cable
    • Hard reset once more just for good measure!
  6. In addition, Cloudyfa introduced a cool feature where you can choose between cross style and touch style.
    • To choose the cross style, you need to edit the config.txt file in the extRom directory and change it to point to the included cross customization cab file.
   change the line:
    CAB: Extended_ROMTouch_Transform.cab
   to:
    CAB: Extended_ROMCross_Transform.cab

Tips and Tricks/Common Problems

Common problems in most WM6 roms

Pagepool is too big/too small!
  • You can customize the pagepool using the instructions found on forums or at ProphetFAQ.
  • You can also check out this thread to edit pagepool using activesync!
A2DP bluetooth sound is poor
  • (Someone please fill in this section. I have no idea since I don't use A2DP)
  • Read the threads for more info!
I can't unlock my device after turning on device lock!
  • DO NOT USE THE DEVICE LOCK PASSWORD!! WM6 WILL FORGET IT AFTER A SOFT RESET.
  • The only solution is to HARD RESET
  • This is common to all wm6 roms, not just Transformer
Disappearing Email/Wifi/Bluetooth settings
  • This happens after softreset. A solution found by others is after you're done with defining all your settings, shutdown the device by holding power button for 4+ seconds. Then turn it back on afterwards. The theory is that the true powerdown writes the settings to file vs. keeping it in memory. Your settings should now be saved after random soft resets.
  • See nicolasmauri.blogspot.com for an email repair tool.. I don't think this is related but a helpful tool for a similar problem of broken email accounts
  • Possible guarenteed cause for losing the email/wifi/bt settings is by soft reseting while the device is plugged into USB/Charger. Make sure to always unplug & wait a few seconds (for the charging LED to stop) before soft resetting.
Wifi Doesn't turn on!
  • Somewhat related to the disappearing email/wifi/bt settings, simply Soft reset, and try enabling wifi again. If it still doesn't work, put the device on standby (press the power button), then power the device back on, then try enabling wifi.
Input panel selection box is very slow!
  • this is known bug with wm6. You need to rewrite the CLSID registry key. instructions here: ProphetFAQ
  • usually linked to installation of MS Voicecommand
Battery Life is Worse/Better!
  • There's not much info on this. My device (G3) seems to run fine with all the ROMs with out significant difference in battery life. Others have reported different info. Search the forum threads for more details
  • battery drain is linked to new camera drivers. so don't install the new camera cab that's floating around on forums
  • battery drain can sometimes be linked to the radio rom.. try a newer (or older) one.
  • COLLECT DATA. HARD DATA. Use battery meters, ASERG has a battery tracking tool. try to find that.
  • You may "feel" like it's draining faster, but I also "feel" like I own a million dollars. That doesn't make it true.. ;)

Transformer 1.1

the difference between 1.0 and 1.1
What is TransformPP??
  • It is a utility to change the pagepool of the rom. If you don't know what that is, you don't need to change it.
  • You can free up some memory by disabling the cube (if you don't like it). See this post
there have been some problems with touchscroll functionality. Please post on forum if you have fix.
if you run into problem with getting stuck at windows boot screen after soft reset, you can only recover by HARD RESETTING device.
Visit this thread to log your experiences to help developers track down bug.
Radio rom is NOT a factor
  • Some people have said hard reseting 3-4 times stabilizes it.
  • this is NOT true. It will still happen.
A lot of people experience the freezes after restoring PIM data with pimBackup or with activesync.
  • Not sure how this is a factor. PIM data is corrupting the boot process?
Since the problem started from 40005a Cross, the rom cook cloudyfa said the main difference between 40005 and 40005a is the 6 button HTC Homeplug from Kaiser. Disabling the homeplug might stop freezes
  • Test results are in. Disabling the 6 button HTC homeplug stops the boot screen freeze!
  • Final conclusion is: 6 button HTC Homeplug* populated PIM database causes boot screen freeze. I dunno why, but the fix is to disable the HTC Homeplug from the today screen plugins
Use your fat THUMB/FINGER to activate touch scrolling. (there's difference between stylus input and finger input)
swipe from top middle of screen down to bottom middle of screen to activate touch cube.
