Background

NativeSD is a revolutionary new development in 2012 by securecrt and Xylograph of a NativeSD Rom Boot Script for HD2. NativeSD ROMs boot from an ext4 partition on the SD card and are fast, not only to load but also to run and are more reliable. Gingerbread (GB - CM7), Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS - CM9) and JellyBean (JB - CM10) ROMs are supported.

Recovery

  • Although different recoveries can be used, recommendation is 4EXT Recovery

4EXT Recovery

  • Recommend placing 4EXT Recovery in a folder named "4EXTRECOVERY"
  • Recommend that Recovery is separate from NativeSD folder
  • To run Recovery, press haret.exe in the 4EXTRecovery folder

Keys:

  • Volume up + to move cursor up
  • Volume down - to move cursor down
  • Left call phone button to select
  • Back button to go back

NativeSD Touch Recovery

Tytung has developed NativeSD Touch Recovery that is run from Recovery and allows you to Backup, Restore or Delete a single NativeSD ROM
It works for all NativeSD ROM on HD2, saving the backup to your SD Card in /sdcard/NativeSD/Backup/
To use it, from Recovery, flash NativeSD_Touch_Recovery_v1.0.zip

Resize EXT4 Partition

This can be done in Linux using GParted or from Windows as show below:
  1. Backup all of your NativeSD ROMS to FAT32 using either 4EXT Recovery advanced menu or one by one using Tytung's NativeSD Touch Recovery
  2. Recommend backing up your FAT32 Partition to your PC
  3. Use MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition 7.6 to
    1. Delete EXT4 Partition
    2. Extend/shrink FAT32 to free up the new EXT4 size you want
    3. Create a new EXT4 partition with the size you want
  4. Format EXT4 Partition again using 4EXT recovery
  5. Restore your NativeSD ROMS to EXT4 (either from 4EXT Recovery advanced menu or one by one using Tytung's NativeSD Touch Recovery)

Create EXT4 Partition

  1. Create an EXT4 partion on your sd card using minitool partition wizard home edition.
Note that both the first FAT32 and second EXT4 partitions should both be 'primary'.

Unzip Recovery

  1. Unzip 4EXT Recovery into folder on your SD Card / 4EXTRecovery.
  2. In the 4EXTRecovery folder, press clrcad.exe then haret.exe to run Recovery.

Format EXT4 Partition

  1. Format the ext4 partition (created by minitool partition magic) using the recovery tool.[1]
  2. Scroll down to ext3-4ext-ext4
  3. Scroll to wipe / format
  4. Format sd-ext (do not format sd-ext2, this is your WP7 partition, if present)
  5. Exit recovery and then restart it to be safe.

Install NativeSD using Recovery

  1. Download an HTC HD2 Android NativeSD.zip ROM to your SD Card e.g. in 'Download' folder. Do not unzip!
  2. In the 4EXTRecovery folder, press clrcad.exe then haret.exe to run Recovery.
  3. Select install from sd card.
  4. Select choose zip from sdcard.
  5. Choose a zip to apply i.e. a NativeSD.zip from your Download folder.
  6. Continue install? THIS CAN NOT BE UNDONE. Yes.
  7. Press next to Continue the installation...
  8. Choose Install to SD-EXT.
  9. Select Default Connection - leave this unchecked for PPP connection (default).
  10. Depending on the ROM's AROMA script there may be other choices.
  11. Click next to start the installation
  12. Installing ROM please wait...
  13. Installation complete... please reboot...
  14. Windows Mobile will boot.
  15. Open the NativeSD folder in your SD Card.
  16. Press clrcad.exe then haret.exe in the NaticeSD folder to load Android NativeSD ROM.
Enjoy your NativeSD ROM. You can reload the Android ROM from WM anytime from the NativeSD Folder.
