We don't know what this chip actualy does, because it can be flashed with custom software to do a variety of tasks, although is it probably used for hardware monitoring with it's 5 A/D's. The L in the name means it's more tolerant to fluctuations in the voltage of its power supply. Otherwise it is identical to the PIC16F72.
