ROM or Radio Flashing
Disclaimer
XDA-Dev nor anybody will take responsibility for any actions you take using these instructions or applications. ROM flashing can void your warranty. Please proceed with caution and at your own accord.
Flashing will completely erase your phone's memory. Make a backup of everything you need.
If you want to flash a cooked ROM you need a patched SPL. How to do that is described in this guide.
You also can flash the ROM directly from the microSD-card! The guide is found here.
Steps
Gather all the ROM files from the Kitchen or a pre-built ROM (xda-developers ftp). Browse into the ROM folder, ensure you have the required files to do so.
- Connect your device through ActiveSync.
- Executing FLASH.exe will present you with the following screen. Ensure you read the entire screen and agree and place a check mark in the box if you agree. Click Next.
- Once you have completed these steps, you can check mark the box and click Next. This is simply to ensure the computer does not halt while transferring the NBH half way, and to ensure your device can stay on long enough to receive the NBH and write it to ROM address space.
- The application will hand shake, confirm connectivity and such with the device.
- Once it is completed, click the Update button to find and load your ROM file.
- If your cooked ROM has proper major/minor numbers, you will see it here. Else it will be blank or contain inconsistent numbers. Not to worry, if this is the only ROM in your folder, it will be loaded properly.
- Click Next.
- Flashing will now start. One of numerous things will happen. If you are flashing an official ROM - it will reboot your device and you will see the bootloader screen, which is Red, Green and Blue tri-color. It will then turn to a progress bar, transferring will start and the ROM will be written.
Once the progress bar has reached 100%, the Vox will automatically restart, do not unplug the cable until you see the following message;
Now the ROM has been updated, you can disconnect your phone and it should reboot.
If you are flashing an unofficial or cooked ROM, you may end up with a '3% Image Corrupt Error'. You need to flash SPL in order to allow an unsigned ROM to be flashed. Instructions are below
