Wizard Versions

From XDA-Developers
Jump to: navigation, search

There are multiple variants of the HTC_Wizard. For example:

  • Qtek 9100
  • I-mate K-JAM
  • T-Mobile (Europe) MDA Vario
  • T-Mobile (US) MDA
  • O2 XDA Mini S
  • Orange SPV M3000
  • Cingular 8125
  • Dopod 838 e.t.c.
  • Vodafone VPA Compact II

What we know so far is that there are 2 versions of the chip board referring to the radio. The versions are the G3, and the G4. The G3 being the most common, and also the one that most research and exploitation has been done on. The G4 is the later one, Having issues with almost all modding.

How to tell if you have a G3 or G4 wizard:

(Taken from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=284292)

To tell the difference between a G3 and a G4 wizard, you must look at the IPL and SPL versions. To find out what IPL/SPL version your Wizard has, turn the device off and back on. At the first splash screen, the IPL and SPL versions will be written in red at the top of the screen.

A G3 Wizard will have the following:

_IPL: 1.xx or 2.xx or 2.xx.00x (Note that this version only has TWO 0's.)_
_SPL: 1.xx or 2.xx or 2.xx.00x (Note that this version only has TWO 0's.)_

A G4 Wizard will have the following:

_IPL: 2.xx.000x (Note that this version has THREE 0's.)_
_SPL: 2.xx.000x (Note that this version has THREE 0's.)_

Note: Some people might be confused by the fact that it says G3s only have 2 zeros. That is in reference to the part AFTER is says "or". If you have 2.26 as your IPL and SPL then you have a G3 Wizard.

Here is a comparison of the two versions with what we know so far.

If the Flash screen doesn't show your IPL and SPL

Some Wizards have an operator Flash screen which overrides the Flash screen that's supposed to show the IPL and SPL versions. In this case, you can try to enter the bootloader (by resetting the device (by pushing the stylus into the reset button at the right of the device) and then holding the camera button).
