INSTALLATION

To install

UnRAR and copy the 2 files (XHook.exe, XTask.exe) into any folder in the system memory, such as \Program Files\XTask\ . Running the program from external storage memory is not advised since when connected to PC the external card could be unrecognizable by the system.

Click on XTask.exe to run the program.

Check "AutoRun Xtask" for automatic startup.

XHook.exe shows the task icons on the title bar. It can serves a stand alone light version for simple switching and closing tasks.

XTASK.exe is the main program for setup, task lists, control panels, process management, etc.

Files

You can use either,

  • Hook.dll with xTask.exe, which is the first link, or,
  • Hook.exe with xTask.exe, which is the second link.

Chinagb created the dll version because some program, e.g. SPB Backup, terminate the xHook.exe and cause PDA to freeze. While the dll is surposed to avoid the problem. And dll version use less memory than the exe.

Be sure you use either the .exe, or the .dll. Should not use both together.

Startup

You can put a shortcut to xhook in \Program Files\Startup, not another copy of xhook. Xhook looks for Xtask in the same folder, but it's a really bad idea to put any exe (much less, two) into the startup folder. If you did that you're really lucky the device booted.

XT.REB

XT.REB is an automatic generated signature file for restoration of all XTask settings after a hard reset or flashing ROM.

Run in Background

Regarding to running xTask at background, only xHook constantly resides in memory. It occupies about 68k in the RAM. Whenever the menu is activated or setup started, xTask starts. When you exit the menu or setup, xTask quits. Chinagb wish to keep the memory use by the program at minimum. He said the other taskmanager program might use 100-200k RAM.
