onscreen keyboard window sizing

Hey so i'm oldfashioned and I like to use google chrome for all my browsing needs. The problem is, whenever the touchscreen keyboard comes up, it resizes whatever window I'm using to half the size. How do I stop this from happening?

Also, when I have the dock in, it still brings up the touch keyboard when I touch on a text box. Is there a way I can stop that from happening too? It's a really annoying process to click a text box, close the keyboard and then resize the window every time I want to type.

I assume you are talking about while you are on the desktop.

Click the maximize/windowed button (beside the Quit X) and it will turn in to a floating window instead.
