The company is not dead or not exit anymore, it was splited.
And Xperia owners are not the only ones to have this chipset, Samsung has many devices with this chpset too.
According to ST-Ericsson 10.7 million units shipped as of January 2013, but can you get 100000 owners sign or even 10000, probably not.

BTW Sony released it's sources for developers, in what form the drivers are there?

O.K. to answer my own question, the driver sources are there, so no more whining about it.

Yeah, it was splitted. But after all, there doesn't exist a company called ST Ericsson anymore, so what is the point in making a petition to company that doesn't exist?

Those sources won't work with CM 10.1 (that is asked for in the petition), since the source is for Bluez bluetooth-stack. In andoid 4.2 and newer there is no Bluez anymore, it was replaced with Broadcom's Bluedroid.

It doesn't matter if the company with specific name exist, the writes for it's work belong to someone, it this case STMicroelectronics.

And it is known there are sources for it, or maybe they're expecting them to write new code? I don't think think any of the devices using it is planed for upgrade to 4.2.
There are sources, modify them as necessary.

No, those sources doesn't exist, and they are not going to write new code for a chipset that it is discontinued and is not in production anymore ans not used in new products anymore.

That is why this petition has no sense.
