Default Sony Xperia U water damaged - HELP !!!

Hello everyone!
So yeah, I have a big problem, my Xperia U fell in the water (not salty) yesterday and I don't know if it's still working because I haven't tried turning it on since. I've immediately removed the back and bottom cover and the battery of course. Luckily, the SIM card was out already. I didn't put my phone in rice or anything, so I'm asking you what's the best method to save my phone, I mean, if it can be saved at all?
Thanks!

Yeah, I am so glad I got it back to life because I want to sell it and buy a Nexus 4 or something. Rice really does miracles

if it does happen it is better to use the silica packs as they will asorb more background water than rice.
