LOL. I'm wrong when I posted evidence? Complaints of battery drain on many different devices caused by Google Play Services are everywhere on every Android forum.
Some people are simply determined to pin the blame on Sony, ignoring all evidence to the contrary even when it's directly linked to. The links I posted above were simply a few of many, many results from a quick Google search.

I sold my Xperia Z and now have a Nexus 5. It has been 2 weeks and no heavy battery drain. Wonder if Google is just not sharing the fix?

Might be, or it might have to do with Sony's Stamina mode...

I am still on Android 4.3, and started experiencing this battery drain about a month ago. Simply disabling location seems to work for me, but someone at Google/Sony should look seriously into this, as we are loosing functionality we had before.

I have a Xperia Z2 tablet, and my sister a Z1, both machines work well and no battery drains by Google Play Services so far. I think, even if this is a Google problem, Sony can prevent it from happening, as they have done in other Xperia devices.
