I juste changed my phone theme to tri flat (theme inside existanz rom) and the transparency persists, i think coz you changed the systemui.
Btw you have a working transparency now :P

Nova's last update (Dec 10) indicates "Transparent system bars on KitKat (Look and feel - Transparent Notification Bar. Requires KitKat)" so hopefully yes.
