Phone [Q] Can magnetic field damage my XPERIA Z1's compass or magnetiser??

Hi there,

I recently purchased an Xperia Z1 from a local store. I've received an official magnetic flipcover also for free with it. I recently installed Smart Compass app from play store and opened its metal detector function. I could see greater deflections when the magnet( inside flip) comes near phone. When i folded the flip backwards, the meter showed highest level of deflection and asked me to stop...!

My question is, whether my phone can get damaged due to interactions with magnetic fields (especially from flip covers folded to back)... If so, what all components get damaged (will that screw up the compass, gps, magnetometer, gyroscope etc.)? Should I use magnetic flip covers anymore?

Please try to include technical explainations also if possible!

Thanks in advance!

Not really a technical explanation, but since it's official Sony flipcover then it shouldn't damage the phone. If it's genuine of course. There's nothing weird with metal detector or compass. They just work as they are supposed to.

Single link for that as the sig got too big ^^
