Ah, that would be because READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE isn't in ICS. I should probably check if the permission is defined in the first place, although I'm not sure what effect that will have on custom, new permissions (permissions defined by apps) and if users care about those in the first place.
I'll try to have a look this weekend.

I do not see this on JB just on ICS.

Correct. JB knows what READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE is, ICS does not. When comparing old and new permissions, I basically check the list of all permissions against the permissions for the installed package. For the latter, unknown permissions are apparently ignored.

Any update on the issue or should I just disable the module to get rid of that (and the functionality)?

I'll hopefully have the time to look into it in a few weeks. Meanwhile, you can do whatever you want. Patches are welcome, too.
