Several such goodies on Play. None of them will work on all devices so hit or miss. Some devices, none will work.

Does this really work with Moto G XT1033 ? With a SONY 2.1A wall charger it shows 490mA and then the value keeps on falling. See attachment.

Edit : Could it be showing 50% of charging value on Moto G ? When charging from a (PC) USB port it initially shows 240mA ( and then keeps falling as above ).

@nihil0!
Ampere_1.06 works great on Galaxy Note 10.1(SM-P600) running CM12LP_5.0.2.
On Galaxy S2 also with Lollipop 5.0.2 it only shows mA values while charging, while discharging it shows only 0.
Seems the device is a bit to old or has unrecognized power management!
Thanks! Great little tool! Really good!

Hi,
the app just shows the value delivered by the system. No app can fix your system or kernel or hardware.

Try an other USB cable. Short cables are in my experience better.

The 240 mA from the PC's USB slot is OK, because those can deliver max. 500mA. Your Android system uses 200-300mA from this and the rest will be charged into the battery which is c.a. 200 mA.

OK. Thanks.
You could mention stuff like this in the OP, for us noobs

Why does the displayed value keep decreasing ? It starts at 490mA and then keeps falling in steps of 10mA.

I'll try with the Monoprice USB cable I have (http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-micro-usb-cable/)
