Sure it does whatever touch.facebook.com can pull off but it's nowhere near on par with the actual app in functionality or smoothness.. But I can understand why some people wouldnt want that massive junk on their phone these days, especially if its a bit of an old phone.
I suppose you are on Jelly Bean? If yes, install the 1.3 version.

If I had like Nexus 5 or Galaxy S5, I wouldnt mind about ram that Fb app uses, but I have this Huawei with 512mb ram, so every mb is meaning alot to me xD

I don't know the complexity to retrieve notification on this app, but if this feature will be implemented, from my point of view, this app could completely replace the official facebook app.
I mean, I don't need a precise notification like "XX comment your post" or "EE likes your photo", but a simple "FB has a notification for you" will be enough..
