Older version (from Cyanogenmod 13)
Enjoy the new Lineage OS launcher on any device
Just install the apk file and set it as default android launcher
DOWNLOAD APP (XDA LABS STORE)
DOWNLOAD APK (MEDIAFIRE)
recent changes: notification badges, universal deep shortcuts and adaptive icons and disable option, protected apps, dark theme option, simplify settings, adaptive icons preference, super ellipse shape, icon packs support, fixed crashes, custom grid size, translations, colorful notification dots, and some extra settings

Known bugs and fixes
To use the widgets properly, you must first click on the cog icon in the top bar and grant permission when asked (if google app is installed) or place any widget and grant permission; google app must be installed for the home searchbar to work
Please state your ROM and Android version when reporting bugs (a logcat would be great when reporting crashes)

Android 5.x to Android 9.x

Please notice that this porting required work; I cannot force you not resharing the porting's apk as your work as i don't own its rights, but it would be nice of you if you didn't and if you shared the XDA thread link or XDA labs link instead; thanks for understanding.

That's up to the Lineage devs, currently it supports icon shapes (if using android 8)

I already tried with no luck: there are too many libraries that require atleast API 21 (found in android 5.0) to work and it would require too many radical changes

When I long-press on the screen, I only see widgets and wallpaper, no settings. Also, clicking the cog on the app info page shows a blank settings screen.
Could this be since I'm on Nougat, not Oreo?
EDIT: Also, is there a way to remove the search bar on the home screen?

What phone and ROM are you using? There should be atleast one option (allow screen rotation), but maybe it is not available for your DPI (screen density), so please if you have root access check your DPI in your build.prop file so I can test it out

The source code is on the Lineage's Trebuchet github page (https://github.com/LineageOS/android_packages_apps_Trebuchet/tree/lineage-15.0), i just added some try/catch and changed the package to com.lineageport.trebuchet, tell me if you have any luck porting it to 4.4

PS: add <category android:name="android.intent.category.LEANBACK_LAUNCHER" /> in the main activity's intent-filter

The homescreen works well but the app launcher is transparent app icons and names are transparent in the app launcher
running on stock lp 5.1 with 210 lcd density
