If you have been trying to root your Android Device by various methods...
Or feed up of these chinese apps/ads installed by some rooting apps...
Or none of the rooting method works for you..
This is a simple Rooting guide for any Android Devices using Magisk Manager by @topjohnwu

Prerequisite:-
  • Android 5.0+ (Lollipop)
  • Stock boot.img of your device ( from stock firmware Or backup from your device using a box e.g Miracle box, CM2, etc )
  • Download Latest - Magisk Manager
  • Active internet connection on your Android device

Procedure:-

Step 1: Patching the stock boot.img
  1. Install MagiskManager apk on your android device
  2. Copy the stock boot.img of your device to your phone's internal storage or SD card
  3. Launch Magisk Manager app
  4. If prompted to install Magisk, select NO THANKS
  5. ( If you are using a samsung device and wish to flash using Odin, then select Options > Settings > Update Settings > Patched Boot Output Format > img.tar )
  6. Select Install > Install > Patch Boot Image File >
  7. Navigate to the location of the stock boot.img you copied earlier on, then Select it
  8. Magisk Manager should begin downloading the magisk zip file used for patching
  9. Once download is complete, MagiskManager will automatically patch the boot file and store it under SDcard/MagiskManager/patched_boot.img ( [.tar])

Step 2: Flashing the patched boot.img

You have a variety of options to flash the patched boot.img depending on your chipset (e.g Mediatek MTK, Spreadtrum SPD, Qualcomm QLM etc )

1. Easiest Method ( Fastboot )
Quote:

Unlock the phone's Bootloader (if its not unlocked)
Boot into fastboot mode
Connect the phone to the PC via USB cord
Flash the patched_boot and reboot by typing in the commands below into adb CMD prompt window and hitting Enter after each line

Code:
fastboot devices
fastboot flash boot patched_boot.img
fastboot reboot
Done

2. For Mediatek Devices
Quote:

You need to have the specific scatter file for your device.
Open Sp tool , load Scatter File
Untick all options except "boot"
Select the new patched (by navigation using windows explorer )
And hit the download button
Make sure you have proper drivers installed ( MTK Preloader, etc)
Conncet the phone to pc ( powerd off with / without battery )
Wait until it finishes flashing
After completion
Unplug the device and
Reboot

3. For Spreadtrum (SPD) Devices

Quote:

For those using SPD devices and you need to have the PAC file for your device, you can flash the patched boot.img using Research download tool by replacing the stock boot.img with your patched boot.img

4. For Samsung Devices
Quote:

For those using Samsung devices and you can flash patched boot.img.tar using Odin

Congratulations! You have successfully rooted your device!

"you can flash patched boot.img.tar using Odin"

if the img was flashed with twrp, it is saved as an .img file on your samsung device. So after transferring the file to your computer, how do you make the file an .img.tar and not just an .img? I don't understand..
