Я думаю об установке Cubot_NOTE_Plus_S20.

Hello! I was very busy and only today could test the software. I installed NOMU_S20_V1.9.1.zip (4PDA link). Right after installation I tested the GPS problem from previous version and it persists: it only works on 2G or 3G mobile network. When I change the mobile network to 4G, the GPS signal is lost (see attached screenshots). Did you find any fix for this problem?

I don't have this phone anymore. By experience - flashing 4G does not help - here it depends more on the carrier and location. Although on the other phone - with the same operators - I'm fine with 4G . There 4pda.ru are no solutions - one way out - which I did - 3G .

Nomu has taken S20 out of market. Probably they didn't have solution either. When I need GPS with internet I also use 3G. Where there is 4G coverage, 3G is usually good as well. Which do you think is the lighter, more optimized version for Nomu S20: perhaps crDroid?

I am thinking of buying new phone in the new year. Which Chinese budget brands you think are best in terms of software (cleaness and optimization) and hardware (Nomu, Cubot, Bluboo, Lenovo, Umidigi, Homtom, Doogee, etc.)?

Happy New Year!

I flashed NOMU_S20+magisk_V1.9_SP FlashTool.zip version and TWRP is not working anymore. I cannot flash TWRP. I tried different versions and I get the error message in the attached picture. Which is the right TWRP file for this system?

Problem solved. I was trying to flash with SP Flash Tools. With root and Magisk already installed, the installation is through the official TWRP app (with root permissions): copy the TWRP img file to internal memory and flash it by selecting it in TWRP app. I flashed version 3.2.3 (link).

If you are interested in updates by air - it is better to take brands. I took Elephone U Pro for Snapdragon 660 for myself. For Oukitel C11 Pro firmware - MediaTek 6739

I only import budget phones from China. Expensive ones I can buy at home, with guarantee. :)

ROM version 1.0.7 available through OTA update. See post #93 for instructions. Most of these issues have been fixed.

I have bought Nomu S20 which in principle is a great smartphone by hardware but is plagued with many problems. I have started this thread to discuss possible solutions, as part of the problem is that Nomu does not provide any OTA (it looks like a face FOTA), and there is no suppor from their website nomu.hk, not even to supply a downloadable stock ROM. So here are the problems I have found:

    1. Stock ROM comes prepacked with Android Triada Virus*. The virus is very persistent, and imune to antivrus programs. It silently installs a fake "Settings" app in the background. Antivirus scan software can detect the app and delete it, but it will be installed again silently later on. See attached files for some of the related processes/apps. There is also the com.chunmei.calculator publicity Spam/virus. It's possible to uninstall it, but it will come up again on the background, at some trigger event. * For possible fixes/workarounds specific to this ROM see posts #32, #53 and #57. Also read the other posts.

    2. GPS software is very glitchy¹: it's necessary to reset all GPS data at almost every restart of the GPS service. I have tried many tweakings, but the problem seems to be really in the ROM, how it communicates with the GPS chipset. Using an app like GPS Reset COM before using an app which requires geolocation helps with solving the problem by forcing a full, cold start. Using GPS Up in the background also helps with keeping the service functioning while it's been used by or a fix is not gotten by other navigation software. ¹ The GPS problem is fixed in ROM version 1.0.6 -- Link --- (Also available on Needrom.com.) See post #96 for further tips on how to possibly stabilize the GPS/GLONASS fix. See post #93 for instructions on how to update your ROM.

    3. Microphone volume level is low: microphone volume is low when used in apps like Whatsapp to record a message. One has to speak very close to the microphone so that the one receiving the message might hear it in a good, reasonable volume. I've had other phones and this is a problem specific to Nomu S20.

    4. No support from their website: there is no support from their website nomu.hk. They do not even supply stock ROMs for those who might want to update their phone or fix a bricked one. One has to rely on websites like needrom.com or this XDA forum to get the stock ROMs.

    5. OTA/FOTA is fake: it really doens't work. I had installed version 1.0.2 and 1.0.3. In both cases the wireless update feature gives the message that the phone already has the latest software. So OTA/FOTA is most likely a fake , non responsive service.

    6. Charger doesn't work when the phone is off: the phone doesn't recognize the plugged charger when the phone is off.

    7. Android translations not complete: specially in version 1.0.2, several languages are missing. Systems apps like the dialer may not have an accurate translation in version 1.0.3.

    Ok here it is.

I suggest you use the install instructions below. Not because this is the only way it can work (I assume there are different ways), but this is how I made it work and it is the only way I tried. maybe others can try different methods and post about them.

1, Make sure you have stock ROM 1.0.6 (with the virus) installed, as this was the one I had installed. It might also work on different versions of the firmware, but this is the one I was using for testing.
    2. More importantly, make sure that you have TWRP custom recovery installed and the phone is rooted using SuperSu, as I described in one of my previous posts. Once again, simply because this is the way I had. But you need TWRP anyway to install the ROM.
    3. Download the file below, and put it on your phone somewhere (location which is accessible through TWRP) AND make sure you have the SuperSu zip file (see previous posts) as well on your phone. You need SuperSu if you want to boot your phone successfully (see below).
    4. Reboot into recovery-TWRP. (power up & vol+)
    5. Do a normal wipe (factory reset) for good measure)
    6. Install the new (virus free) stock ROM (under Install > from zip).
    7. Clear the cache (for good measure) and reboot.
    8. Now the phone will start rebooting, but most likely it will get stuck during loading screen. Not to worry!
    9. Turn off the phone (hold power down for 10 seconds) and reboot into recovery-TWRP (power up & vol+)
    10. Go to install in TWRP and install the SuperSu zip file (because the stock ROM has disabled the rooting).
    11. Now restart the phone.
    12. You need to wait a few minutes, but it should boot up perfectly now. Virus free.

Remember that you will lose all your personal data (you will do a factory reset).

I am away from my computer for the next three weeks, bicycle trip, so this will be my last message for a while. If there are issues, I hope others can solve it.

    Here is the file.

I think I have actually fixed it. At least I hope so.

I learned myself on how to unpack, build and pack a custom ROM these past few days (using Superr Kitchen), and I have created a custom ROM which is based on the official stock ROM 1.0.6 except for a few key aspects:

    - Removed the ROCK adware app from system/priv-app
    - Replaced the libandroid.runtime.so with another one

The first thing was easy to do, the second one was tricky. I think I went through 10 different stock ROMs of different vendors before I found a libandroid.runtime.so that the s20 accepted and managed to boot on.

I have been using it for a few hours now, and let Dr Web run 2 checks. So far no Triada virus, which Dr Web managed to find almost inmidiately these past days while I tried create a workable ROM.

In addition I made a small number of tweaks, one of which is disabling the awful bootup and shutdown sounds. In addition I did not include the stock recovery.img, so that twrp custom recovery will not be overwritten. But apart from that I left the stock ROM as it was.

I will see if I can put the ROM online somewhere later tonight, although I do not have a fast internet connection.
Of course using it is at your risk - I am not an expert on custom ROM building and just made it work by trail and error.
If you are an expert, feel free to use my file and improve it in any way you feel confident - I try to stick to the stock ROM as much as possible.

    Update to 1.0.6 easy way

    Hi everyone,

So I have received my s20 (new speed record, only took 12 days to get here), and for the past day I played around with it and updated to 1.0.6 the easy way. No root was required to do this, as the phone has a wonderful bootloader unlock function.

I can confirm that updating from 1.0.3 to 1.0.6 removes the 3 files mentioned by JVitor in the 1st post. I did not connect to the internet yet, nor did I install any SIM card. I wanted to make sure I updated it first to remove the source of some of the virus files.

Please make sure what you are doing! The process below is quite straightforward, but you should be familiar with ADB and Fastboot and command line terminal for this to work. I take no responsibility if something goes wrong.

And be aware that it will factory reset your phone, so save/backup your personal files if needed.

Steps I did to update the firmware:

    Step 1 > preparations
    - Make sure you have ADB and Fastboot installed
    - Download the 1.0.6 zip file mentioned in post 11
    - Extract the 1.0.6 zip file to an easy-to-access folder

Step 2 > Enable bootloader unlock (very useful!)
    - Go to "settings" on the Nomu s20
    - Go to "developer options"
    - Tick the box "OEM unlocking"
    - Tick the box "USB debugging"

Step 3 > Boot into bootloader & unlock bootloader
    - Start a terminal command line (make sure you are admin/root)
    - type command: adb reboot-bootloader (and wait until phone goes into bootloader)
    - type command: fastboot oem unlock (click yes)
    - You should now have an unlocked s20 (not rooted though)

    Step 4 > erase old 1.0.2 or 1.0.3 firmware
    - type command: fastboot erase system
    - type command: fastboot erase recovery
    - type command: fastboot erase boot
    - type command: fastboot erase cache
I think I also did "fastboot -w" for good measure, but not required)

    Step 5 > install (flash) 1.0.6 firmware
    - type command: fastboot flash system /location/of/your/1.0.6/system.img (and wait until phone is ready)
    - type command: fastboot flash recovery /location/of/your/1.0.6/recovery.img (and wait until phone is ready)
    - type command: fastboot flash boot /location/of/your/1.0.6/boot.img (and wait until phone is ready)
    - type command: fastboot flash cache /location/of/your/1.0.6/cache.img (and wait until phone is ready)

    Step 6 > Wrap up
    - type command: fastboot reboot
    - Wait until s20 restarts
    - Uncheck "OEM unlocking" and "USB debugging" if desired under settings
    - Done!

In the next few days I will see if any virus/adware is installed under 1.0.6. I have not yet uninstalled "Software Update". First want to see if that is actually causing issues. Because then I would have to root my phone first.

All right! Thanks for confirming that the above mentioned method works. As I am planning a motorbike trip (the reason I bought the phone in the first place) I don't feel comfortable to follow the procedure at this time but I will definitely be more experimental after the trip.

I will eagerly wait for your results, as you 've already said "this is an otherwise good device", and report back if the company representative communicates to me any more info! :)
