hiding navigation bar - with or without root access

Found this run-once app Hide Navigation Bar by Manuel Wrage that hides the navigation bar in the S2 Oreo 8.0 or Treble 4.1. Once ran, can delete it and the navigation bar removal persists.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...nuu.hidenavbar

After running, it allows exclusive use of the fingerprint sensor (FP) for navigation (tap=back, long-tap=home, swipe=apps). Treble 4.1 with an additional double-tap=lock phone.

In Treble 4.1, it removes the bottom corner rounding and just leaves the top rounded corners. Nice. Betters setting qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 in build.prop which also hides the navigation bar on Treble 4.1 but maintains bottom corner rounding.

If could get landscape mode with Chrome showing info around the notch, would use Treble 4.1. It's impressively good. Great work @heineken78

Hello,
I have a SHARP C10 phone that works very well, maybe the most reliable I've had, but I'm very disappointed not to have an update. Last security patch: August 1, 2018.

I look to install a custom ROM but I do not know and I get lost in this long talk.

Is my phone compatible? is it complicated to do? What does not work in the end?

Thank you.

Phone killing background apps
I'm running SS2 Trebled V3.3, and have recently noticed that the phone kills background apps quite aggressively, so things like IFTTT and nordvpn get killed, which isn't optimal for how I like my phone to be setup.
Can anyone point me in the direction of phone / battery / app optimisation settings where I can specifically tell the phone not to kill these processes?

this guide served me well.
beforehand, you need to unlock the bootloader, and the only way to do that is using paid services. I used this one.

I finally decided to flash my phone but I am blocked from the first step.
Out of stock. I do not find anything.
Not easy.
