Getting dead android screen when booting into stock recovery. Normal boot works fine.

Phone boots up and runs fine. Still has stock Rom with no modifications other than root with SuperSu. Booting into recovery gets me the dead android screen with no text. I've been trying all possible combinations of power / volume up / volume down for the last half hour with no luck. Phone is a Coolpad Quattro 2 4g, model 801 es. Info on this phone is so sparse as to be nonexistent. Any help?

Apparently, recovery is "hidden" on this phone. Following the normal recovery boot procedure, as well as adb reboot recovery landed me at the dead android screen. As I said above, no combination of key presses seemed to work. Out of curiosity I touched the home button and all the stock recovery options came right up. Apparently the dead android is the recovery splash screen on this phone. For whatever reason they don't want people mucking about with it.
