3) You should see something like "waiting for any device".
4) Reboot the phone.
5) Hopefully, fastboot will grab the phone in that brief moment when it's actually in fastboot mode.

I accidentally did this with a Google Pixel that was being difficult, and it worked for me.

Tried the above. Did not work.

Any other ideas?

I would imagine that its a combination of holding down the power button and going throught a number of reboot cycles, but i dont know.

The idea is to have fastboot "waiting for devices" when the phone is rebooting. When I do this, I'm running linux on my PC, running fasboot as sudo, and am connected to the phone via USB cable.

If you tried that, and it didn't work, I'm out of ideas.

I don't have one of these phones myself, but I was considering getting one to play with.

Has anyone tried using a fastboot cable?

yeah did that just on osx. No dice.

I noticed thought that in recovery it has an option to boot into edl mode.

Maybe we can use that for an exploit if we get the right firehose programmer.

Exactly! That's what I want to do since the beginning! (see my posts about QPST and UFST). You can also enter EDL mode with the adb reboot EDL command!

Do programmer files for phones with the same CPU work?

One last question for you experts: what is the full list of files needed for programs like QPST to work when the phone is in "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008" mode (the COM port device name of this phone in EDL mode)?
How many .mbn or .hex files and what do they exactly do?
How many .xml files and what do they exactly do?

That's how I finally unlocked my Pixel. It wasn't hard, and didn't take long. Are you implying that because of the similar chipset, it might work on the Palm phone?

Scratch that, you can get to # 10 but again no response to fastboot commands (sits at waiting for device)

Nah, just trying anything at this point. I.E. what has verizon done with other devices' bootloaders where people have had success.

so where we are is

1. No one can get into the bootloader.
2. Fastboot commands do not work.

So ADB is working, but we can't seem to get into fastboot?

I'll ask again, has anyone tried a standard fastboot cable?

I'm not sure there is a USB-C fastboot cable. Also, I haven't seem them used in ages.

Me neither, but it couldn't hurt, assuming there's such a thing as a USB-C fastboot cable.
