Hello, I hope you're doing well. I am trying to restore some deleted Facebook conversations, and I heard that they can be saved as cache files in the Android data storage, but you need to root to access the "hidden" files. I also heard that this particular Samsung model (Samsung Galaxy S6 Active) is hard to root. I tried to access the files without rooting by plugging the Android to the PC, but nothing showed up when I explored the different fb_temp and fb_cache files. Please let me know if there is a safe rooting method out there. Thank you.

EDIT: It is Android version 5.0.2, and the model number is SM-G890A.

Your best bet is to flash TWRP make sure the correct version for your device and then use TWRP to flash magisk for root. https://xdaforums.com/galaxy-s6/orig-development/twrp-t3080940

Hi, thanks so much for your reply. What does "flash" mean? Would I need to back up my phone first?

Yes, a backup is always wise to ensure you keep all the files, flashing is "uploading" additional software to the phone. But since you only need some recovery check out Magisk: https://******************/ You can download from the app store as well.

Ok, understood. How can I backup? I know there's manual backup via PC and via Google Drive, but are there any other apps? Like backing up specific data perhaps? I'm just scared of losing data if this phone gets bricked or something like that.

Also, the link does not work? PS This method works for Samsung Galaxy S6 ACTIVE, right? I heard it's a bit hard to do this on this model.

Ah my bad something went wrong when i paste the link: https://******************/ Magisk is a very nice easy to use rooting app and installer for various handy tools. Under Settings there is a backup option that will save data as well from apps etc.
