Stock weather apps are usually just the bare bones of what you need to get your forecast. You'll often find yourself downloading a third-party app to get more in-depth information. With the MIUI 12 update, Xiaomi phones will get a new weather app that offers a little more than the typical stock app. I am running MIUI 12 on my Xiaomi Mi 9T and will be showing you everything you'll be able to find in the new weather app.

App Name: Weather
App Version:
APK Name: com.miui.weather2

Beautiful Visuals and Sounds
The MIUI 12 weather app is designed to give you the feeling of looking out your window. The main screen shows the current temperature, along with a visual of the sky and the current weather. Interactive weather effects are used to give you a good representation of what is going on outside. If it's sunny, you'll see a blue sky in the background of your weather details. If it's slightly cloudy, those clouds will be added to your screen. For weather like rain, thunder, and snow, animations will be added along with sound effects to match the current weather. You'll also be able to hear the weather if you have your volume up. Rain, thunder, hail, and other sounds will match the animation, adding to the window-style effect.

While messing around with these animations, I found out that if you press and hold on your screen, it will slow the animation down. You'll be able to see individual drops of water, or snowflakes, as they fall. If you move your finger around, you rotate the storm animation and it becomes a 3D view of your weather. While it doesn't serve any sort of practical use, it is really cool to see these animations in the weather app.

The transitions between different screens are very well done. They give the whole app a very polished and interactive feeling. These visuals make your weather app more fun to use, and tie in nicely with the rest of MIUI 12.

Detailed Forecast Information
The new weather app is more than just upgraded visuals. You'll be able to find a clear and comprehensive forecast with all the data you'll need, at a glance. The main screen presents you with the current temperate, weather, and three-day forecast. You can tap the 5-day forecast which will bring you to a new page with more details. If you scroll down a bit, you'll find your hourly forecast for the day along with wind speeds, Real feel, UV index, and pressure.

In your hourly forecast, you'll notice a sunrise and sunset indicator, to keep you informed on the exact time you can expect the sun to go down and come up again. You can easily share your weather information using the share tool. This tool will take a screenshot of your current weather info and prepare to send it as a photo.

Keep track of multiple cities by using the add icon in the top right corner. This will bring you to a page were you can manage your cities across the world. Swipe through your cities from the main screen to quickly get the weather information you need.

There are two different widgets available for your homescreen. The first widget is a 1x4 setup that displays the current temperature and an icond that represents the weather. The second option is a 4x4 widget that shows the date, temperature, and a 4-day forecast.

For a stock weather app, MIUI 12 offers a really great solution. These are all of the features you can expect to find in the newest update for Xiaomi phones.
