Going to disagree here, manufacturers don't feel the need to include this information most of the time. My Snapdragon 820 device with Adreno 530 does not support 10-bit AVC(H.264), however it does HW+ decode 10-bit HEVC. Wikipedia properly lists the addition of 10-bit encoding and decoding for HEVC to the hardware, but Qualcomm's own website does not. 625 was released close to 820 so it's worth a try, but it can go either way.

Incidentally, the SIP on Nvidia's 10 series cards also supports 10-bit decoding for desktop.

It's a bug on ffmpeg side. It's already fixed on internal codes. The next update will bring the fixes to this issue.

Just a quick update for the LG G6. It has support for HEVC Main10. However what I noticed also is that it doesn't support VC1 or MPEG2 which the V20 did. Seems like the G6 only supports the latest codecs like AVC, HEVC, VP8, VP9, H263 etc. Older codecs are not supported if anyone needs them.

A couple of question please.

How does HW+ work, when i play 10-bit H.264 which is not hardware supported on my tv box, I get hardware supported level of cpu usage 20-30% instead of 100% when using software decoding.

Also when i play 4K video`s on an 1080p tv, is my gpu being stressed at 4k level or 1080p level?

Thanks

John.

The snapdragon 821 doesn't support 12 bit hw decoding.

But how LG G6 supports Dolby Vision, if it needs 12-bit dithering?

Now that's a good question that I unfortunately cannot answer because I have no knowledge of how they are supporting that.

Strangely my Axon 7 can playback HW+ 10 bit HEVC since the firmware update to 7.1.1, it couldn't do this on 6.0 previously. Anyway, super happy since the Axon 7 has great speakers and now support all major video codecs, VP8, VP9, AVC, HEVC, MPEG2, VC1 etc

So I bought a Huawei Mediapad M3 to replace my Galaxy Tab S3 and It can't play HEVC 10-bit. I've seen in some leaks that Kirin 950 is suppose to support HEVC 10-bit decode.
Hopefully It would be fixed in EMUI 5.0 or does Kirin 950 natively doesn't support 10-bit HEVC decode?
