Thanks

John.

Sorry there was some misinterpretation on my side.
I have misread hi10 as HEVC. According to the current logic, Hi10 will be available only on the device has hardware acceleration for Hi10 profile.

Do you see H.264 10bit in HW+ Codecs with harware accelerated mark?

If no, your device doesn't support it.
In some old versions, it was force attempted when it's enabled. But, it has been found that it's causing system level crash on many devices. So, now it's disabled by default on unsupported devices.

OK, I will just use SPMC player, It plays the video`s with HW acceleration with some artifacts that is fine for me.

Thanks

Is there a way to make HW+ the first choice when playing a video as i have a Anime series the video`s plays for 5-10 seconds and then stops in HW mode, if i switch straight to HW+ the video plays without fault, But when i play the next video i have to switch manually from HW to HW+ on every episode.

Thanks

john.

I downloaded Passenger movie in 4K 10bit to try if I can play on my smartphone, in HW+ screen gets blank but sound is playing, but when I press back button I see video is playing, but it's just for a second. Maybe bug on U11? Today I will try on Pixel XL to find out if it works.

In SW I can play video but it lags so much

HTC U11 failed to play UHD 10bit HEVC, video is blank but audio works fine, if I rotate then I see frames

I tried on Pixel XL and it failed terribly, HW+ is not supported

I tried on S8 exynos variant and it worked fine.

So seems need a fix for U11

I think it does, I tried HEVC 10Bit UHD and it worked fine for me on S8, but that didn't work for me on U11 or Pixel XL. And yes HW+ works. I know you asked for h.264 and I have tried h.265 so I assume that will work on hardware level.

Do you mean that It works after changing the orientation, it works?
Is it in HW decoder or HW+ decoder? Does it still work even after switching the orientation to landscape again?

Kindly share a bug report. It will help us to understand the problem better.

HW decoder says HW is not supported on HTC U11
HW+ decoder is supported on HTC U11 but screen is blank but I can hear sound fine. When I change Orientation I just see a frame and then again it gets blank.
In SW I see few seconds video then sound and video stops.

In Pixel XL
HW and HW+ is not supported
SW is unusable like 2-4 frames a second

When I tried same video on Samsung S8 Exynos
In HW+ it worked flawless

I think blank screen on U11 is bug,
BTW I am trying 4K 10bit HEVC h.265 video

HW+ uses decoders provided by the system.
Probably it's an issue with the decoder configuration in your device.
Can you provide the bug report?

How can I provide a bug report? I see no crash or anything.
What are steps for bug reporting?

Thanks

So it seems you are right and problem might be with decoder itself. I tried to play same clip in HTC video view and I can hear sound but screen is blank, no video, seems only HTC can fix this then?
