CM11 WITH F2FS SUPPORT + PHILZ TOUCH RECOVERY

As CM12 and 12.1 are developed and become more stable, some of us are staying on CM11 and waiting for the M13 release. In the meantime, we can all enjoy this updated treat :) This is CM11, courtesy of @mionica for the AHD. It has F2FS support and is using the CM12.1 kernel repo.

Main development thread: http://xdaforums.com/photon-q-4g-lte/development/rom-cm-11-20150304-unofficial-t3046263

Changelog

20150520

-Merged the CM APN's (Carbon's list was pretty outdated, and not maintained)
-merged the CM11 android_system_core (except for healthd, which would require a change of the native framework)
-enabled the boost-cpu-freq-on-detected-activity in the 12.1 kernel
-switched to the CM11 bionic library;
-updated everything (good stuff happened in the kernel and twrp, in the last two weeks)

20150506
-enabled lz4-compressed swap space
-cleaned up the init scripts.

20150503-20150505
-Switch to CARBON
-added Calendar
-built on gcc-4.8.x-sabermod-20150429
-added CMWallpapers, Video Editor
-added the previously-missed vim, unrar, zip and gdbserver
-synced with upstream
-set default governor to msm-dcvs - better out-of-box performance
-imported the cm-12.1 init support (including swap enabling)
support for fstab alternatives, cm12-style (my own code in fs_mgr); now you can use the ROM with either f2fs or ext4 for /cache and /data
-massively improved FS performance for both ext4 and f2fs - tuned the fstab settings for best performance;

20150427
-repo sync

20152004
Initial release for AHD
-synced repos
-zram changes in the kernel, swapping not enabled
-switched kernel to cm12.1 branch (incl selinux)
-disabled koush's Superuser altogether

Install Instructions:

-Flash Philz Touch
-Backup current ROM
***IF ON CM11, BACKUP /DATA/MEDIA AS WELL***
-Enable ext4 to f2fs
-Wipe /cache and /data (select /data and /data/media option

Awesome specially the Phil's recovery updated.
Have you tried this on CM12/CM12.1?

---------- Post added at 12:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:16 PM ----------

OK I flashed philz and it does come on but the BG image is split into 4? Hmmm

Have not tried it on CM12/12.1. I was getting too much lag and missed calls on 12 that i had to fall back to 11. It should work though. And yes, the BG does show up that way for me too. I'll keep you in the loop if that gets fixed.

Thanks for rom and recovery!

Hmmm, I flashed this ROM but modem was not working (GSM, WiFi, BT).
At first, I thought that I formatted modem by accident, so I reflashed NON-HLOS.bin but that didn't help, of course.
So, I went back to other ROM and there everything was fine...

Just flashed CM12.1 with this recovery. It's working great!

How is it? Is there a lot of difference in speed? I didn't know it worked on 12.1.

CM11 is pretty good, no real issues to report. Battery life is a bit better since the 2/16 nightly b/c of commits that were made to fix wakelocks (thanks google play services). Benchmark putting it in the same range as CM12. Idk how CM12.1 is, never tried it b/c of all the cell issues. I know i got creative and modified the script of xt925's jbbl CM12 when it first came out and ran it perfectly on our AHD, but i haven't looked at doing that yet.

Nice to see Carbon here again! It used to be my favorite ROM. I will flash it ASAP. Thanks!

Edit: I'm an idiot, it is working now. Thanks!

even carbon roms are named f2fs, is there an ext4 rom seperately? or i can just flash the carbon f2fs rom with me CWM recovery?

Yes, and that's b/c they do support f2fs. However, to clarify what I stated in my previous post, the CM11 builds in this thread are f2fs ROMs, the Carbon builds are f2fs/ext4 ROMs.

I tried Carbon with ext4 but didn't worked, however it is working wonderfully with f2fs. You should try it.

Thanks for that. The convos i've had points to it supposed to work with ext4, but perhaps it wants to have issues. I mean the PT was a pain to get to work with f2fs and stuff, so it might not be perfected yet

Go ahead and have jerry test it out on the ahd. Make sure that the touch points all match up, i remember that was the problem. If it works, feel free to open up a thread, and if you want, build it for 3.3.1, its still going to be compatible. Plus it'll open the door for roms higher than cm14.1 / los14.1. Of course the game changes with android 10

I'm waiting for androidfilehost to authorize me as Dev. I've also built recoveries for xt907 and xt926 and both work fine. It looks like this whole group of phones changed touch drivers from melfas*** to atmxt**. Hopefully it will fix the recovery touch problem. We'll find out when he tries it out. If not I'll revert to the old drivers.

Hey palm. Which link is the actual ROM?

Do I click that download arrow on top then flash via recovery? I'm on cwm 6.0.5.1 though. Thanks.

Recovery is going to be the PT img file in the G Drive folder. You need to flash that first, then do a backup, format data and cache to f2fs, then install the ROM. Make sure you have the option to update recovery unchecked, otherwise you'll get a TWRP recovery installed when you flash the ROM (TWRP still not working right for us on AHD). Yes, that arrow thing you asked about is the download option.
