Start from ZTE_A2017V1.1.0B10_Nougat_Full_by_djkuz.zip with TWRP 3.1.0.0 + root+ Bootloader unlocked!

In order to transform your A2017 in A2017U follow the next steps:

1. Go to TWRP- Backup BOOT/RECOVERY/MODEM/BLUETOOTH/EFS (A2017V1.1.0B10)
2. Go to Wipe- Advance Wipe- Select system and data- Wipe
3. Download A2017U - A2017UV1.1.0B19_StockSystem_by_DrakenFX.zip from here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=162830
4. Copy to phone memory and flash A2017UV1.1.0B19_StockSystem_by_DrakenFX.zip : DON'T REBOOT!
5. Go back to Restore and select: BOOT/RECOVERY/MODEM/BLUETOOTH/EFS
6. Wipe Dalvik/ ART Cache- Reboot system(2-5 min first boot) IF STUCK AT BOOTLOADER SECURITY message screen go back to TWRP and flash no-verity-opt-encrypt-5.1.zip
7. After first successful boot Go back to TWRP and Flash: UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.79-20161211114519 FOR ROOT
8. Wipe Dalvik/ ART Cache
9. Go to Advance - Terminal- write : reboot disemmcwp ( phone will reboot twice)
Enjoy!

Big thanks to DrakenFX. and djkuz for they're hard work!

Thank you for your tutorial.
There are some similar tutorials about converting a G to a U model.
But in all these I miss the explanations of some questions.

How can we fully return to stock.?
What are the differences after the new software. Are the missing lte bands unlocked then?

Maybe you can put it in your description.

Nice work!

Taking in consideration that you make a full backup at the beginning, you can return to chinese version anytime, and from there to stock.
The difference is huge we have native Google Assistant , My Voice in English, Stock Launcher with drawer, not chinese bloatware, and much more.
In my country all bands are working, theoretic nothing should change.

Without TWRP and root, I don't think so.
You need to go back to b13 by Edl, root, flash TWRP and unlock bootloader.

Can I change my A2017 to A2017G version using this method (with correct G files)? Will it unlock the 4G bands that A2017 doesn't have?

A2017 supports LTE band: 1/3/7 only, and I need Band 8 for the place where I live in.
A2017G supports LTE band 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/19/20/28AB

While this guide is great, there is one small modification i would like to make. Dont restore efs using TWRP. The EFS partition contains the imei codes for your phone, the mac address for the network adapters and other important stuff one should not mess with. While backing up the efs partition is fine, restoring efs may modify the data and leave your phone without an imei.

There are other more reliable methods of backing up and restoring efs. Generally installing roms will not disturb the efs partition so its better to leave it alone.

No. The change is merely aesthetic. You will get rid of all the annoying Chinese stuff on the phone but since the modem is still Chinese only Chinese bands will work.
What if in strep 5 we don't restore the modem and keep the modem from G versión. Will it work?? If it doesn't work, we still can restore the modem in next reboot??

The drakenfx system zip does not have a modem so it would not matter, the modem would still be from the previous full flash. However if you were to flash the gmodel modem on the Chinese version your phone will not get any signal, so it is not recomended

:(

Sorry, my friend, but it did not work for me. I did all the steps but it freezes in the part where it says "your device software can not be checked for corruption". Then it restarts and goes straight to the TWRP. If I quickly press the power button on this frozen screen, appears a sad penguin lol ... How to proceed to solve? And another thing, when I go to install the SuperSu, it turns off and has red LED on. Greetings..

    Hi all,

As the links have broken on the first post, I have repacked a single flashable file which will transform your A2017 into an A2017U (based around A2017U B19 with the modem from A2017 B11).

    A2017 to A2017U

After flash, install the no-verity patch for the bootloader.

Note: I used the following TWRP 3.1.0 image to flash.
