Tested on Oreo.. Successfully decompiled the system.new.dat just be patient..

There an error "FCC hast stopped working" never mind it.. Close that after it finished compiling..

Now Oreo can be ported the only problem is the porting method.. I tried but failed to do so

Don't worry about it.Probably a false alert.Just disable your antivirus when you're using the tool.

Can't unpack system.img android 8.0 (devices pixel2 and pixel 2xl). I get this message
grep: 01-Project/1-Sources/symlinks: No such file or directory. And next I get info unpack without error. But system folder is empty.
