Can I restore from previous back ups from other recoveries

I've tested Philz recovery but for some reasons it's unstable.
I cannot wipe cache, it says "wiping cache / formating cache ..." then it works forever, the phone end bricked.
Fortunately i had a backup of the old recovery and i recovered my phone.
I've tested the TWRP 2870 working nice and cool theme.

I just tested TWRP on stock 11/05 rom and it worked great. I made a backup and everything went fine. Great job.
I have been using PhilZ revovery without any problem. The first cache wiping takes sometime. Hopefully, you didn't abort before it was done.
I did because after a few minutes, the formating wasn't finished while with TWP it takes only a few secounds to be done.
After installed the TWP's version, i did the wiping again and it has been done after a few secounds only and it works again now.
That is because it was the second cache wipe. PhilZ did the work for you with the first which takes time. Subsequent cache wipes don't take that much time.
Because it is no flashable zip. Extract the zip and use flashify or sp flash tool.

You can't sideload it since it's not a flashable zip. Extract and flash using fastboot, as has been said earlier.Am I the only one? TWRP sideload doesn't work for me.
Right you are. The adb sideload works in CWM and doesn't in TWRP. It's very inconvinient.
Just a newbie question, just flashing recovery for the first time on P8000:
1. How do I (or can I ) back up before flashing recovery for the first time.
2. Where can I get scatter.txt file for P8000
3. I have just received, the phone - do I need to first install any OTA stock updates from Elephone.
Any answers would be really helpful.

If u have SuperSU, then u can
1. Backup recovery with Flashify and flash de-zipped recovery.img
2. No need of scatter.txt
3. I think u do not need anything else

Strange, installation aborts when I try to flash the zip and don't think it's working in flashify either? How can I tell if I'm on v2 or v3, are they both 6.5.9?

first i want to thanks Phil3759 for his great PhilZ Recovery
and xRlPx who ported it to our P8000 , he told me that i can release it for all ,
because he has not much time and cant support it.
So here it is .
Notice: xRlPx Phil3759 or me do not support this thread. its only for sharing
-xRlPx and me tested it for a few days. and its working good.
-Touch is not working because we need a custom kernel for that. ( WORKS NOW)
-wipe cache works , notice : it takes up to 4-5 minutes.

as normal, like cwm or Stock rom.
