I'm using Windows 10 and the commands were NOT recognized with the "m" in front of each line. That being said, the bat file provided will NOT work with windows. Copy and paste each line without the "m" in the command terminal and it works perfectly!

Thanks again Fireball0093

I tried to flash the stock xt1609 firmware on my xt1609 moto g4 play and got the "preflash validation error".
Adb, moto drivers, and fastboot all set up and working properly. Running Windows 10 and my pc sees my phone fine. Both "adb devices" and "fastboot devices"
shows my phone correctly. I can boot and reboot my phone using adb/fastboot commands.
Not sure why I can't flash the stock firmware on my phone. I've tried using both fastboot and mfastboot. Neither one works.
Any suggestions?

Remove the rear cover and battery, the model information is printed on a label there.

If you bought the US unlocked it's going to be the XT1607.

*Edit* It also will say the model number (on stock at least) under Settings, About, Hardware Information. It's listed under SKU

I've learned re locking the bootloader on Moto devices is not the smartest idea. Caused some havoc back with the Moto E. Better off just keeping it unlocked

Edit: to answer your question directly, no :P
