I just got a set of Sony LiveDock.
http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/accessories/livedock-multimedia-station/

My wish is to put my GN on the dock and plug into the micro USB come with Dock.
Then I can charge my GN or connect to USB flash drive.

But my dream shattered when I connect to my GN. Nothing happened!!
So it is only a dummy dock for me.

I think Sony must mod some circuit to identify whether u connect a sony phone or
not.

I will find time to disassemble it and make it right for GN.

Before I success, pls don't buy this Dock for ur GN!

Has nothing to do with whether or not you're using a Sony phone. Sorry to tell you, but you're barking up the wrong tree if that's the troubleshooting that you plan to do. It's more likely that whatever ROM you're using may not support USB peripherals.

I think u r the wrong one actually.

Before I bought the Sony LiveDock,I got several pcs of USB OTG cable for
testing. My GN can recognize my USB drive correctly. That's why I decide
to buy the LiveDock.

BTW,I've crack and open the LiveDock. There turn out to be a special ID pin
on the circuit board. I think that's how Sony identify it is a Sony phone or not.

I will post the circuit photo tomorrow.

Pls tell me who is wrong this time?

Actually, USB comes with only 4 pins of definition.
VCC,D+,D- and GND. you can find from here.
http://pinouts.ws/usb-pinout.html

But according to the circuit board I opened and showed below.
There are 6 pins. The extra two pins are ID and Shield. Of course we can
ignore the shield pin. But the ID pin plays an important role in this LiveDock.
That is also why The LiveDock cannot recognize my phone as a sony phone.
And result in unable to charge and to connect USB drive.

Totally useless...that's the only word I can say. But this Dock really inspire me
to build a multi-function Dock for GN and for all other USB OTG phones.

I will post my idea and design very soon..

You may want to study up on USB standards, as the spec you cited it's irrelevant. The spec that we are discussing calls for more than four pins. A four pin connection cannot enable host mode, hence the fifth pin. The sixth pin to shield serves merely to reduce emi

ok. If what u say is correct. And my GN can use OTG function normally with other
OTG cable.

How come that I cannot use the sony Dock? That's why I suspect Sony mod something to identify its cellphone.

If possible, pls advise the pin out about USB host. Thank you!
