So instead of having 300 threads about bootloader issues with the new KitKat, If everyone posts here they can see if their question has been answered already, and to share new info.

  1. **This applies to bootloader N9005XXUENA2 which has come with the new version of KitKat 4.4.2**

[*]You cannot downgrade to 4.3 including custom and AOSP ROMs currently.

[*]Root does work, but it seems now and again it can cause issues, so you need to reflash 4.4.2 and then re-root (seems to be the only fix right now)

[*]Custom Kernels are NOT working currently

[*]Custom Recovery is available however, check out Chenglu's CWM for KK

[*] Hong Kong Variants (16GB) have issues with Ext4 fail when flashing, there is no fix right now. DO NOT FLASH IF YOU HAVE ONE

If people can just leave their advice / help, I'm sure it'll save us ALL a lot of time scanning through 100s of threads.

Thanks.

Thank you! We can get a centralized info sharing event going on~!

So far it seems my friend is experiencing some serious heat issues. which got resolved after a few hours. but this was after flashing and then resting then using for first time on kitkat after reboot.

He did not factory reset.

Hong Kong 16 GB N9005 bricked after 4.4.2 via Odin

Dear friends, please help.

I tried installing the 4.4.2 official poland XEO-N9005XXUENA6-20140113093221 on my Hong Kong N9005 16GB handset. I tried both the multifile and the single file ROMs. I am not rooted.

My phone no longer can access recovery mode. Instead it shows : "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again." I tried Kies 3, but kies noes not recognise the phone. It says Kies does not support this device.

When in download mode and installing ROM, it stops at ext4 and says "Odin: Invalid ext4 image".

I tried with PIT file, but then it stops at repartitioning, and shows PIT FAIL.

ODIN Log:

Majority of the Ext4 issues seem to have stemmed from the HK 16GB version, there *may* be no other way to fix currently. If you have tried all the known fixes, PIT file, re-flashed stock again etc. I am out of idea personally :(

I have the 32gb HK n9005 and I can't flash anything other than HK firmware either.
At least I was able to flash cwm and flash custom Roms, so I'm happy.

NEE devices will not have audio with the Polish 4.4.2. Can't make calls or recieve. Can still text and use data, however.

If you were dumb like me and flashed 4.4.2 you'll need to set the device to silent and then not even try to open dialer or get/make a call. System will be totally unresponsive for a while before letting you back out of things. :/ No way to fix until another region gets 4.4.2

Not experiencing anything like that. Maybe you need to re flash the Rom.
My biggest concern still is the rotation problem after rooting and removing some normal apps like flip board and ever note.

Wouldn't you be able to flash back to 4.3 if you first flash a 4.3 bootloader?

What did you mean bootloader N9005XXUENA2?

Plz be noted that this leaked firmware comes with Bootloader N9005XXUENA6, Baseband N9005XXUENA2.

I pasted it in and couldn't edit the title :)

Afraid not, once you upgrade you're stuck.

When attempting to flash 4.4.2, the 4.4 bootloader would have been installed. Once that is installed, cannot be downgraded to 4.3 bootloader, unfortunately.

Yup this is 100% accurate.

are we getting off topic?

Hehehe slightly :)

Is it possible that we flash 4.3 bootloader and downgrade to 4.3? I got very low benchmark with this kit kat around 29000. Even the sview cover not working now.

Nope, not possible. Once you upgrade to the new Bootloader you are stuck with it until further notice.. And I doubt there will be an exploit to go back to 4.3 as there wasn't one with below MJ7

Hi, just want to make a Question. How about this one:

Model: SM-N9005
Country: Hong Kong
Version: Android 4.3
Changelist: 2061029
Build date: Tue, 05 Nov 2013 06:08:04 +0000
Product Code: TGY
PDA: N9005ZHUDMK1
CSC: N9005ZZHDMK1
MODEM: N9005ZHUDMJ9

Is the HK n9005 32gb Variant affected with the bootloader error?

Thanks

All Hong Kong version cannot flash with any others country stock ROM as they are not friendly with others country Note 3.

I read gfans chinese forum mention 32GB also not working.

Hong Kong edition is alone, we also can't flash their ROM as will soft brick also.

Hey there my friend. I think you just need to wait for your official update of Kitkat or let's wait for the great devs here to have a solution on the Hongkong firmwares problem.

Hi, i'm on Baseband MJ9 with MK1 CSC rooted and custom cwm recovery user.

i flashed custom roms with other country and it works fine like jackaway/xnote/crash rom.

i'm just not sure if all mj9 baseband with mk1 csc are all came from Hong Kong.

Hope that there is someone here with mj9 baseband / mk1 csc updated their firmware to poland 4.4.2 kitkat.

I think salvation may be on her way, since Samsung released their source codes.... Let's see how great these devs are out there
