I did not like the grey statusbar background (did not look nice \w some of my wallpapers) so I edited the drawables.xml in SystemUI to give back the black background, I'll attach the SystemUI in case someone wants to use it, too.
Be sure to have a backup, place SystemUI.apk in .................... (see note) , correct permissons to 644, reboot. Works with odexed version of this leak only.
Credits: XDA for platform and search function, raubkatze @SGSIII boards for the hint where too look and the devs of smali/baksmali/apktool for their work.
EDIT: Added CWM-flashable version, tested with PhilZ XXLSJ kernel. Wipes dalvik-cache and cache, then installs SystemUI.apk/SystemUI.odex and sets permissions to 644.
EDIT/NOTE: NOT SURE IF THE APK SHOULD GO TO /system/app or /preload/symlink/system/app - both variants work but putting it to /system/app overwrites the symlink to /preload/symlink/system/app/SystemUI.apk. Removed the CWM zip which used /system/app and replaced the original symlink.
I don't care whatever happens to my account for this but I have to say this:
This SystemUI works on my XXLS8 like a charm.
All you have to do is to copy it to "/preload/symlink/system/app/SystemUI.apk" otherwise /system/app will not move an inch.
Im very happy to have found this solution at last the grey bar was annoying as never since first rom that I had was 4.0.3.
I cant express my thanks with just words. Im going to hide this gem so if something goes wrong Ill still have it.
Many many many thanks again.
