I have a root s2 with everything working well (gps, tv support too)

So I basically follow this guide here
http://www.browse-tools.com/root-samsung-galaxy-s2/

Using the file factoryfs.img.gz (without extracting it)

Then

download the stockkernel.zip (mmcblk0p5) file above.

put it somewhere on your phone.

install a terminal on your phone

in the terminal:

su -
cd /mnt/sdcard/
ls
(make sure you see your mmcblk0p5.img file)
if you do:
dd if=./mmcblk0p5.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5

once that completes PULL YOUR BATTERY

reboot the phone

Voila

Can list the steps for that? I want to do this with Linux and Heimdall works with Linux. I found this so far

http://mailman.cs.huji.ac.il/piperma...ne/007317.html

I have installed Heimdal 1.2 it looks like the command I will need to do is:

>From a powered off phone, hold down vol-down, home, and power.

heimdall flash --factoryfs factoryfs.img

reboot

install SuperUser.apk from marketplace

download the stockkernel.zip (mmcblk0p5)

put it somewhere on your phone.

in the terminal:

su -
cd /mnt/sdcard/
ls
(make sure you see your mmcblk0p5.img file)
if you do:
dd if=./mmcblk0p5.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5

once that completes PULL YOUR BATTERY

u don't need to dd mmcblk0p5.img if you are already on stock kernel

heimdall flash --factoryfs factoryfs.img

is enuf. But dont use the first factoryfs.img uploaded here as it is only 512MB partition.
It should be 612MB which is in the new Odin image with OC kernel. Download it and untar
the file, you will get zImage and factoryfs.img. Then use this factoryfs.img to burn.

Thanks!

Will that auto reboot or I need to reboot after that?

Can you point me to where that is located? The one I downloaded is from page 7.
looks like this is it from a couple pages back right?
http://hotfile.com/dl/122975516/3a69...OTFFS.zip.html

So I assume that this will keep pretty much everything the same I just need to install "super user" after that and I am all set?

I sent you a PM for the password.

by "don't burn the kernel" you mean only run the "heimdall flash --factoryfs factoryfs.img" command without any of the other kernel options right?

Thanks for all of the help!

you will see when u extract it with the password I just sent to you.
there is a tar file. extract it. it will give u zImage (Kernel) and factoryfs.img (system partition) Delete the zImage as you do not need it.
Then just do the heimdall flash --factoryfs factoryfs.img command to burn the /system partition.

Just curious, why do you want this version instead of the standard international one?

This version has digital TV.

Pardon my ignorance, but can you watch your local TV shows with this "digital TV" that comes with the NTT Docomo version of the Galaxy S2? Or is this a network dependent service?

Here is a stock kernel + rooted factoryfs 612MB version for Odin and Heimdall.

http://hotfile.com/dl/123171449/40f4...OTFFS.zip.html

Password is the same as CWM one. PM me if you do not know already.

Unzip the file. you will get a .tar file. Use it to burn with Odin 3 (Version 1.85 or it will
fail in most cases)
If you prefer to use Heimdall, untar the .tar file above. You will now get zImage and
factoryfs.img. Burn it using Heimdall.
If you want to burn factoryfs.img only with Odin, create a tar file with factoryfs.img:
tar -cf SC02C_FACTORYFS.tar factoryfs.img
now load the FACTORYFS.tar into PDA of Odin and burn.

You can do the same with zImage only aswell.

You do not need to add --type=ustar to the tar command and you do not need to add md5.
