[Q] I9100 Cyanogenmod 11 battery issue

I have installed Cyanogenmod 11 for my friend on his i9100 and have seen a number of posts relating to poor battery life. He has checked in the battery log and Google play services is hogging most of the battery which I presume is the issue. Is there a fix for this?

I'm using CM 10.2 but I had the same problem. What I did was uninstall Google Play Services updates and disable them and I think it improved battery life a little.
