With compression i'm unable to use the option 'Extract from Nandroid backup' in Titanium Backup when a backup is compressed. Titanium says it can't read the CWM backup.
As Titanium Backup can read compressed TWRP backups i'm wondering if this is an issue with your compressed backups or with Titanium Backup that doesn't by default expect compression on CWM backups.

I am aware of that. It is a limitation in Titanium Backup. Even renaming my tar.gz backup to tar will not fix it. I am going to request TB team to support this format

Meanwhile, you can just make your compressed backups in TWRP compressed format. It will work fine with TB

I'm glad that you're aware of it.
It'll be great if TB will support your format as well.
I didn't test the TWRP backup yet in your recovery as i expected that to work like it should.
Will give it a go.

Only limitation is that it doesn't support preload partition, as TWRP doesn't support it

Yes, that easy

Make many backups and store them separately to ensure they do not get corrupted

I tried myself that function many times: I formatted my efs partition and restored both efs.img and tar, compressed and non compressed and even the TWRP formats

Bad, really bad. Phone is under warranty, but my fear was the weeks without phone... no dev...
Finally, it went fine on first try

Since it is a small partition, it was my guinea pig to test all nandroid/TWRP options. It went formatted and restored so many uncountable times

Hey everyone,

I have a probably stupid question: my CWM recovery dates back from july 2012... I was strongly advised to update it.
I'm running Wanamlite 5.8, with Perseus kernel (latest version). Shall I just flash PhilZ's wonderful CWM from within my old CWM ? That easy? An then regularly update it ?

Nothing breaks, nothing bricks ? No root lost or anything ?

Thanks so much in advance

A new comer to PhilZ's CWM
