No, i flashed only rom - I downloaded new rom, rebooted to recovery, installed new flash and pressed button reboot - I didn't wipe cache and dalvik.
People describe the same experience on 4pda forum.

try first to wipe /system, then flash again the ROM and restart without flashing gapps.
if it boots restart to recovery and flash gapps.
by wiping only /system you won't loose data.
if it does not work try with a clean flash.

Stahp with your battery stats, you are making me sad compared to my barely-can-reach 2.5h SOT battery I know I can't expect much from 3 years old battery but still.. I'm getting new phone this summer so it's not worth buying a new battery for such short time.

Mine is also about 3 years old now
Normally I get 1:30 - 2:00 hours SOT. But as I said I kept the brightness on minimum and lazy browsing the internet over the wifi in my bed

  • I will begin first with some build.prop flags changes. As the S3 has 1GB of RAM, the devices needs the right Dalvik VM values which follow its physical memory resources. Also, those settings were also tuned to avoid memory pressure with multiple cached app processes while switching between applications. The lines already exist, simply change their value with mine.
Code:
dalvik.vm.heapstartsize=8m
dalvik.vm.heapgrowthlimit=100m
dalvik.vm.heapsize=174m
dalvik.vm.heapminfree=512k
dalvik.vm.heapmaxfree=8m
  • Secondly basing on this commit and The Android Source Code, I suggest you to disable the atlas service (by adding the following line config.disable_atlas=true) for memory savings purposes.
  • Thirdly and if any, I suggest you to reduce the default's high ZRAM disksize (400MB which is for Boeffla kernel I think, I didn't check for the ROM's default one) to 256MB and to change the vm.page_cluster tunable to 0 basing on this another post (it's quoted below) :
Sources :
01.org - Android Memory Tuning for Android 5.0/5.1.
The Android Source Code - Low RAM Configuration.

Best regards.

So these settings will free more RAM...?

The first part will avoid memory pressure when you're having multiple cached app processes while you're switching between applications (For example, you're having FB in the background and you're switching to an another app).

The second one yes, will save memory.

And the third one, may help in case the device is under extreme memory pressure while using ZRAM.

@Darkened_Sky Good luck for your exams !

Best regards.
